  SubAlpine Coffee is THE destination in the Adirondacks for anyone wanting a truly delicious cup of coffee, locally sourced sandwiches, homemade pastries, and a laid-back atmosphere where they can kick back after a trip in the woods and cool their heels.
  
  Things do get busy here at times, but the staff are always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating to customer preferences. There's ample seating where on crowded days you can sit while your order is being made. The coffee drinks are outstanding, beans roasted by Counter Culture and a variety of expertly crafted specialty drinks to suit every palate. There are plenty of non-dairy substitutes, flavors, and seasonal creations to choose from. Patrick the owner is a stickler for detail who takes pride in providing excellent pulls and attention to the craft.
  
  And it's not just the drinks that make SubAlpine unique in the area, the food options are outstanding as well. A wide variety of in-house baked goods line the display case including vegan and gluten-free options, and a solid selection of made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches using fresh-baked bread. Portions are generous, so you might pay a little more for the food, but the quality of the (mostly local) ingredients shine through. Keep in mind that food from the back kitchen is only available until 2pm, so plan accordingly. My personal favorite is the spectacular Nirvana sandwich, served on toasted rosemary bread with chicken breast, bacon, feta, arugula, and a sriracha-maple sauce - it's as blissful as the name suggests. There are also soups, ample bagged snacks for the road/trail, kombucha on tap, and locally blended hot teas for non-coffee drinkers.
  
  Whether coming down from the hills, the lakes, or just passing through, make it a point to stop at this gem.
